BEER OF CHIERI - From the earth to glass
Ever since, for the first time in 1994, the brewer of "Grado Plato" Sergio is Ormea homemade malt barley to produce its first "all grain", the idea of producing a beer really rooted in all its material first to the territory of Chieri no longer abandoned. The opportunity to realize this old project was born from the prof. Alberto Caudan, a teacher at the Istituto Agrario ex-Ubertini (now Institute of Chieri Vittone) and the University of Asti. Prof. Caudan, just returned from experience, has since been enthusiastic about the project. Thanks to the willingness shown by the leaders of Bonafous-City of Turin has been impossible to cultivate the raw materials within dell'estesa of property.
The Institute Bonafous-city Turin is located in an exclusive position among the hills of Commons of Chieri, Turin and Pino Pecetto. Inside there are, among others, vineyards, a wine cellar, old orchards with varieties, greenhouses for cultivating flowers for the city of Turin, experimental fields for sowing, even a lake ... With the active involvement of students were held meetings in which it detailed the technical and theoretical relative to raw materials, the process of malting, the saccharification and fermentation of must, to the maturation of the finished product.
What initially seemed a challenge by many question marks has proved, as the problems that arose along the way were exceeded, an exciting and an epilogue by almost fairy tale.
