Smuttynose

Welcome to the Granite State’s leading craft brewery, located in the historic seacoast city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Smuttynose was founded in 1994 by the folks who started the Northampton and Portsmouth Breweries. Our beers - Shoals Pale Ale, Old Brown Dog, Portsmouth Lager, IPA, Robust Porter, The Big Beer Series & our seasonal specialties - are distributed throughout New England and the mid-Atlantic states.

At Smuttynose, we pride ourselves on making a wide variety of distinctive beers, from our five full-time beers, to our seasonals and our famous Big Beer Series.

Vegetarians, please take note: Smuttynose beers are made without the use of any animal products, such as isinglass or gelatin. Why? Because we prefer it that way, and we're sure you do, too, so enjoy!
