Chouffe Gnome Week In DC!!! - June 6-9 2012

6,666 years ago, a village of gnomes discovered magical water at the Cedrogne Spring in the small slice of the world that we now know as Belgium. After discovering that the water had magical healing properties, the gnomes started using it to make beer. They built a little brewery which flourished for thousands of years, but by 1982 the population of mystic munchkins in the region had dwindled to just one lone gnome (gnomes like to travel). The remaining Achouffe gnome was very fond of two aspiring brewer humans, and decided it was time to share the ancient brewing secrets of the gnomes with them. Thus, the world famous Brasserie D'Achouffe was born.

To commemorate the 6,666th anniversary of the gnomes' discovery, the world has declared June 6, 2012 through June 9, 2012 Gnome Week (a short week if you will). You can join the celebration in several ways. Visit your favorite local purveyor of craft beer for a few bottles of Houblon Chouffe, McChouffe, LaChouffe or N'ice Chouffe to enjoy at home in honor of the gnomes or celebrate with the hordes of devoted Gnomatics that will be imbibing gnome-style at one of the following events:

Brasserie Beck/Friday, June 8, 2012/10:30pm - Beck will hold a SAVOR after-party hosted by Brasserie D'Achouffe founder Chris Bauweraerts. "World's smallest toast" will take place at this event.

Dr. Granville Moore's/Saturday June 9, 2012/11am to 1pm - Granville Moore's gets it going early with a Saturday morning Chouffe-themed brunch and toast

Jack Rose/Saturday, June 9, 2012/2pm to 5pm - Get Chouffe-faced at Jack Rose. Chouffe drafts will be $6 for a full pour or $2 for a 4oz pour

Smoke and Barrel/Sunday, June 10, 2012/11am-3pm - Okay... not "officially" part of Chouffe week, but Smoke and Barrel will have Chouffe founder, Chris Bauweraerts, in the house for brunch. Houblon Chouffe and McChouffe drafts will be $2 off all morning and everyone that is present at noon will recieve a free 4oz Chouffe pour as part of a toast led by Head Chouffe In Charge, Chris.
