Maple DC celebrates SAVOR week!!!
The slice of 11th Street NW in Columbia Heights is quickly becoming one of DC's best destinations for craft beer and good food. Maple just opened, Room 11 is expanding, Kangaroo Boxing Club is opening, El Chucho Cocina Superior is opening, The Diner family is opening another diner, and Meridian Pint and Red Rocks are as solid as ever. The star of the strip this week though is Maple. Maple is a panini palace with a maple bar that was designed and handmade by owner Eric Robertson. To celebrate the spirit of SAVOR week (SAVOR is the United States' premiere beer and food pairing festival that runs for two days every year in DC, and the week leading up to the event has become known as "SAVOR week" because the entire week is studded with beer and food themed events at all of the local craft beer enthused restaurants and bars), Maple will ramp up their beer program to showcase Italian craft beer and the harmony it creates when paired with food. Del Borgo's ReAle Extra will be on draft, and bottles from Italian craft beer maestros like del Borgo, del Ducato and Baladin will be featured all week. Try the panini with red peppers, mozzarella and basil pesto next to del Borgo's Enkir to experience the symphony that is the spirit of SAVOR. Try the bruchetta with Prosciutto, fig paste and Gorgonzola next to del Borgo's ReAle Extra and your taste buds will rejoice like they just consumed the essence of an entire gospel choir. This is a great opportunity to join in the fun of SAVOR week, and an even better opportunity to treat your palate like it deserves to be treated. It is also a great opportunity to support an independant, locally grown and owned business. Let your gustatory glands revel!
