Blue Moon Belgian White

Blue Moon
Self-Defined Style:
Belgian White
Strength (ABV):
5.4% ABV

Blue Moon Belgian White is a refreshing, medium-bodied, unfiltered Belgian-style wheat ale spiced with fresh coriander and orange peel for a uniquely complex taste and an uncommonly smooth finish. The name "Belgian White" is a reference to the cloudy white, opaque appearance of the beer. "Belgian White" also refers to the style of beer, which has been brewed in Belgium for about 300 years. Blue Moon is traditionally served with a slice of orange to complement the orange peel used in the brewing process. Blue Moon was launched in 1995.

product:

Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale

Product - Oskar Blues Dales
Brewed By:
Oskar Blues
Self-Defined Style:
American Pale Ale
Strength (ABV):
6.5% ABV

Dale's Pale Ale is our flagship beer and America's first hand-canned craft beer. It's an assertive but deftly balanced beer (somewhere between an American pale ale and an India Pale Ale) brewed with hefty amounts of European malts and American hops. It features a meringue-like head, a copper color, and a hoppy nose, thanks to a big post-boil addition of Centennial hops. To complement its hoppy first impression, Dale's also sports a rich middle of malts and hops, and a bracing finish.

Best With:
This intense example of an American Pale Ale would have a wonderful relationship with a hearty meal of steaks, stews and chili's. Strong and sharp cheeses, like the Roquefort or Stilton would pair nicely.
product:

Oskar Blues G'Knight

Product - Oskar Blues Gordon
Brewed By:
Oskar Blues
Self-Defined Style:
Double IPA
Strength (ABV):
8.7% ABV

G'Knight (formerly Gordon) is a hybrid version of strong ale, somewhere between an Imperial Red and a Double IPA. We make it with six different malts and three types of hops, then dry-hop it with a mutha lode of Amarillo hops. It features a gooey, resiny aroma and a luscious mouth feel. G'Knight is brewed with dash of chocolate malt in it, to round out its load of hops and balance the beer. The result is an assertive yet exceptionally smooth version of strong beer.

Best With:
A general rule of thumb with this beer is 'the spicier the better.' The impressive hop bitterness in this beer can stand up to just about any degree of spiciness in dry rubbed ribs, Cajun cuisine, curry based Indian food, or wasabi spiced Japanese fare.
product:

Oskar Blues Gubna Imperial IPA

Product - Oskar Blues Gubna Imperial IPA
Brewed By:
Oskar Blues
Self-Defined Style:
Imperial IPA
Strength (ABV):
9.5% ABV
Bitterness (IBU):
100 IBU

Emphasizing that complexity of character can arise from simple elements, this ale is made with three malts and one hop. Its light amber color and slightly spicy malt character are derived from the use of German Dark Munich Malt and Rye Malt respectively. North American 2-row barley combines with the other grains to lay the foundation for the hop onslaught to come. Summit hops are used exclusively in the boil for bitterness, flavor and aroma but it doesn’t end there.

Best With:
With a bold emphasis on hop bitterness, India pale ales are the ultimate beverage pairing for spicy dishes. The sharp hop presence in most India pale ales can stand up to even the most devilish of spices in Cajun, Malaysian, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine.

Oskar Blues

Ten FIDY is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Its huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 98 IBUs that are deftly tucked underneath the beer's mountains of malty goodness.

The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success. In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Self-Defined Style:
Belgain Strong Golden Ale
Strength (ABV):
8.5% ABV
Color (SRM):
4º L

Duvel is unique. No other beer is made like it, or tastes like it. Blonde and refreshing like a Pilsner, but with the flavor, depth and complexity of an ale, Duvel defines the Strong Golden Ale category. The beer's golden hues originate with its Pilsner malts, while Bohemian hops and a unique yeast strain add character, intensity, and a certain verve. It's this beguiling nature that has made Duvel a Belgian favorite.

Best With:
Pairs well with seafood, particularly steamed mussels, and works well as a stand alone beer. Excellent as an aperitif.

Hoegaarden White

Product - Hoegaarden
Brewed By:
Hoegaarden
Self-Defined Style:
Belgian White Beer
Strength (ABV):
5.0% ABV

Hoegaarden is the authentic Belgian wheat or white beer. It has a unique and extremely complex brewing process whereby the brand is first top fermented and then is refermented within the bottle - ending up in a unique cloudy-white appearance. The brand's unique appearance is mirrored by its one-of-a-kind taste - sweet and sour beer with a little bitterness, slightly spicy, with a strong touch of coriander and a hint of orange, perfect for warm summer days, instead of other refreshing beverages. Refreshing, a little quirky, and decidedly different - naturally.

Best With:
This Belgian-style wheat beer works well on its own as an aperitif, but also pairs well with lighter fare such as salads with a citrus dressing. It can work surprisingly well with omelets made with apples and goat cheese. Some people enjoy this beer with a slice of orange as a garnish.

American IPA

This is an aggressive ale. You probably won’t like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory–maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it’s made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beverage will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multi-million dollar ad campaigns make things taste better. Perhaps you’re mouthing your words as you read this.

Best With:
This IPA's generous hop character makes it an ideal pairing with spicy foods such as barbecue, dry-rubbed ribs, or ethnic cuisine such as curry based Indian food, wasabi based Japanese dishes, or spicy Thai entrees.

Pull on your wool socks and crack open a 2 Below Ale. This tasty winter warmer started life as a small batch beer brewed for the Al Johnson Uphill Downhill - a telemark ski race in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Uphill Downhill celebrates the exploits of Al Johnson, letter carrier extraordinaire, who delivered mail by ski in the late 1800's. Dry hopping during fermentation creates a floral nose with a hint of pepper and spicy, subtle undertones. 2 Below provides a bright, hoppy palate and a cheery warm afterglow.

Best With:
Chef Todd Davies, Partner of Tap House Grill, recommends: Fall apple and Asian pear compote, marcona almonds, honey, quark I braised the pears and apples in white sugar, honey, a little 2 below, the hops offset the sweetness, while the quark smooths the hops, and the honey complements the sweet malts. The nutty almonds accentuate the malts.

Amber Ale
Strength (ABV):
5.2% ABV
Color (SRM):
12º L

Named in honor of our founder Jeff's bike trip through Belgium, Fat Tire Amber Ale marks a turning point in the young electrical engineer's home brewing. Belgian beers use a far broader pallet of ingredients (fruits, spices, esoteric yeast strains) than German or English styles. Jeff found the Belgian approach freeing. Upon his return, Jeff created Fat Tire and Abbey Belgian Ale, (assuming Abbey would be his big gun). He and his wife, Kim traveled around sampling their homebrews to the public. Fat Tire's appeal quickly became evident. People liked everything about it. Except the name.

Best With:
Chef Todd Davies, Partner of Tap House Grill, recommends fontina stuffed banana peppers with smoked chicken, fennel sausage, corn flan, and tomato fonduta. Spicy banana peppers cut the sweet malts, as the stuffing of the sweet hickory smoked chicken and fennel scented sausage complement, the fontina adds a pepperey element, complimenting the hops. The tomato sauce, cooked with fat tire, blends and smooths the ingredients, and the sweet corn flan cuts the spice, while adding and intensifying the sweetness of the malts.

Self-Defined Style:
Enlightened Black Ale
Strength (ABV):
5.5% ABV

Born of a flood and centuries-old Belgian text, 1554 Enlightened Black Ale uses a light lager yeast strain and dark chocolaty malts to redefine what dark beer can be. In 1997, a Fort Collins flood destroyed the original recipe our researcher, Phil Benstein, found in the library. So Phil and brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert, traveled to Belgium to retrieve this unique style lost to the ages.

Best With:
Chef Todd Davies, Partner of Tap House Grill, recommends braised Dietzler Farms Organic Shortribs, turnip greens, cranberry beans, and chestnut puree. Rich malts, chocolate, play perfectly with the braised red meat(any for that matter)Lots of thyme, tomato and garlic(in the braise with the 1554) are integral to deepening the flavors of the malts. Peppery bitterness from the greens, offset some of the sweetness of the malts. Cranberry beans(named for color only) are rich and creamy and complement the chestnut puree with their earthiness and rich...enhancing more of the malt flavor....this dish really pulls out the beer.

Wheat Beer

4.9% ABV
Bitterness (IBU):
18 IBU

A refreshing, flavorful filtered wheat beer. The perfect beer to accompany a meal or for a summer's day. The wheat contributes a lighter flavor while maintaining a rich body. The beer has a light hop profile -- just enough to give the beer balance and complexity. The light fruitiness is derived from a Kölsch yeast strain. A chill haze may be present, which is a characteristic of wheat beers.

Saint Arnold Texas Wheat is best consumed at 40-45° Fahrenheit.

It finishes with a well-balanced combination of the subtle, almost Pilsner-like maltiness accentuated by the German yeast used to brew this Santa Fe classic, and a hop bite sufficient to leave a lingering smile on the face of any fan of American Pale Ales.

Self-Defined Style:
Premium American Lager
Strength (ABV):
5.1% ABV

How big a bummer was Prohibition? As if taking everyone's brew away wasn't bad enough, hundreds of little independent breweries that once made super tasty beers basically got worked. And when they went out of business, America not only lost the breweries, it lost what American beer used to taste like. Session is our way of bringing back the pre-Prohibition American Lager. It's an all-malt Continental Pilsner brewed with American and European hops, so it's flavorful, refreshing, and has a touch of that import-style taste.
