Fullers India Pale Ale

Product - Fuller's India Pale Ale
Brewed By:
Fullers
Self-Defined Style:
India Pale Ale
Strength (ABV):
4.8% ABV

India Pale Ale, so-called because of the market it was created for, was first brewed in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1822. Demand for an English ale amongst British troops serving in India was high, so the ale sent out to the East was heavily hopped and brewed to a high gravity, so that it could ferment slowly throughout the long journey, reaching the peak of its condition as it arrived. Fuller's own premium quality India Pale Ale reflects all the traditional characteristics associated with this historic beer.

Best With:
This very drinkable English IPA has an affinity for spicier fare, but also pairs with anything from avocados to Mexican dishes to calamari to bar foods.

This is an aggressive beer. You probably won't like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste or sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory - maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it's made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beer will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think multi-million dollar ad campaigns make a beer taste better. Perhaps you're mouthing your words as you read this.

Oak Aged IPA
Strength (ABV):

Be cautious. As always. Neither the OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale, nor the Double Bastard Ale like being bottled up. The OAKED is feeling especially put out about the whole experience, so it is suggested that you either be extraordinarily polite to it (which we've been told doesn't work all that well...dunno...we've never tried that route ourselves), or move in with equal or greater arrogance to keep the beer in check. Good luck whichever approach you choose. You will need it.

To celebrate the first anniversary of Arrogant Bastard Ale in 1998, we unleashed it’s big angry brother, Double Bastard Ale. Every November since then, the Double Bastard has been released in limited quantities. In 2004 Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale got a third cohort when we released OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale in 3 Litre bottles. 2006 marked the third year of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale, and a surprise - we crammed, forced, shoved and cajoled the OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale into itty bitty tiny little 12oz bottles. It did not go willingly. Some Stone peeps got hurt.
