Butternuts Heinnieweisse

Product - Butternuts Heinnieweisse
Brewed By:
Butternuts
Self-Defined Style:
Weissebier
Strength (ABV):
4.9% ABV

Traditional Hefeweizen from Germany usually taste like cardboard because by the time you drink them, they're not fresh anymore. Chuck brews Heinnieweisse with Bavarian yeast and a 67% wheat grist approximately 5000 miles closer to your mouth than Germany giving it a rich, fully fresh palate. Pour it and see the wheat cloudiness, smell the notes of estery aroma. At 4.9 % abv you’ll taste the effervescent, sweet yet tart freshness that no farty old German can boast. And what does an Alien have to do with any of this? Ever notice how a hop looks like an Alien's head? Look again.

Best With:
This excellent unfiltered wheat pairs beautifully with sausage, pretzels with mustard, vegetable pate, Crab Lois and is perfect for brunch.

Butternuts Moo Thunder

Product - Butternuts Moo Thunder
Brewed By:
Butternuts
Self-Defined Style:
Milk Stout
Strength (ABV):
4.5% ABV

This stout beer pays tribute to the Butternuts Brewery's former life as a dairy farm, thus the sexy cow on the can. It's a lighter, more drinkable version of the Stout breed than its heavy, boorish and smelly European sisters. Not too strong, not too viscous (oooh...viscous...creepy). Unlike a true bovine it has a malty, roasty aroma and a dry finish but no tail or teats, and leaves no unsightly cow pies laying around the yard for you to step in. On a personal note, the rich, dark color and bossy character goes beautifully on a crisp, colorful fall day up here in the Butternut Valley.

Best With:
This stout harmonizes with charred or blackened meat and fish, as well as lighter chocolate or cream based desserts. With oysters on the half shell, Moo Thunder is simply perfect.

Deep amber to red in color, nice clarity, and displaying a thin collar of rich foam. Rich, smooth and dry, with a floral bouquet and hints of ginger and spice.

Sixpoint Belgian Double IPA

Brewed By:
Sixpoint
Self-Defined Style:
Belgian Double IPA
Strength (ABV):
10.5% ABV

Imperial or Double India Pale Ales have intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. Alcohol content is medium-high to high and notably evident. They range from deep golden to medium copper in color. The style may use any variety of hops. Though the hop character is intense it’s balanced with complex alcohol flavors, moderate to high fruity esters and medium to high malt character. Hop character should be fresh and lively and should not be harsh in quality. The use of large amounts of hops may cause a degree of appropriate hop haze.

Best With:
With a bold emphasis on hop bitterness, India pale ales are the ultimate beverage pairing for spicy dishes. The sharp hop presence in most India pale ales can stand up to even the most devilish of spices in Cajun, Malaysian, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine.

Stein Beer

The entire "stein beer" process is very adventurous - prior to the advent of natural gas burners or coal powered furnaces, brewers in the medieval period used to make gigantic cauldrons of beer under a log fire. The only issue was the log fire under the cauldron could not generate enough heat energy to raise the beer up to a rolling boil. So the Germans devised a novel technique - they would place rocks into an open flame until they were glowing red hot, and then launch them into the kettle.
