Mikkeller Black Hole Aged in Rum Barrels.

Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Best With:
The roasted and burnt malt notes of stout and its typical hearty nature make it an exceptional compliment to raw or steamed oysters, however stout is also at home with most chocolate or cream based desserts.

Mikkeller Draft Bear

Brewed By:
Mikkeller
Self-Defined Style:
Imperial Pilsner
Strength (ABV):
8.0% ABV

A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkeller's interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.

Ingredients :
Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Best With:
Golden lagers are among the most diverse food beers, with the more straightforward American lagers pairing well with fried and oily foods, particularly pizza and pub grub, and the more assertively bitter Bohemian and German pilsners, which work wonderfully with saltwater fish.

I Beat yoU is a really hoppy IPA. It is brewed at BrewDog and the instruction for the Scotsmen was clear: we need shitloads of hops in this one! So be it. This is a hop bomb. Lots of bitter and aroma hops and alcohol and just a little bit of sweetness - just enough to provide response to the hops.

As in "all others pale in comparison."

Or as Mikkeller writes: "a pale ale with a little more of everything." A light, drinkable, elegant beer that is, like all Mikkeller beers, extremely well balanced. Mikkeller Black Hole Aged in Peat Whiskey Barrels.

Wild Ale
Strength (ABV):
7.5% ABV

Brewed at De Proef Brouwerij, Lochristi-Hijfte, Belgium.

It's Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It's Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It's Alive continue to develop in the bottle.

Water, malt (pale and cara), light candy, hops (hallertauer and styrian goldings), yeast and brettanomyces.

Best With:
Generally speaking, Belgian ale is a gastronomic miracle. The delicate spicy and fruity nature of these ales, accentuated by the distinctive Belgian yeast strains, pairs beautifully with lamb, mussels, and semi-soft cheeses such as gouda, havarti, and tilsit.

Brown Ale
Strength (ABV):
6.0% ABV

Brewed at Ørbæk Bryggeri, Ørbæk, Denmark.

Had it been Quentin Tarantinos heroine Jackie Brown, she would probably have said, 'Shut your raggedy ass up', and that would have been that. But this is Mikkeller's Jackie Brown and it’s somewhat more mildly mannered. In fact this beautiful, brown beer’s characteristically; roasted malt taste nearly ends like chocolate on the tongue. And then it wouldn’t be a Mikkeller beer if it wasn’t well hopped. Here the green gold makes an otherwise dark beer surprisingly fresh and easy to drink.

Ingredients :

Best With:
Brown ales typically have a mild hop presence and a subtly sweet, complex malt character that meshes beautifully with honey and tomato based barbecue sauce on all manner of grilled meats. Brown ale also shines with French onion soup, and could even work with a mild cigar.

Brewed By:
Mikkeller
Self-Defined Style:
Belgian ale brewed with spices
Strength (ABV):
11.0% ABV

Similar to the SLH07, the 2008 version is a big bold beer, brewed with water, malt (pale, special-B and chocolate), flaked wheat, dark candy syrup, dark cassonade, hops (northern brewer, hallertauer, styrian goldings and simcoe), spices (sweet orange peel, coriander seeds, cinnamon and cocoa) and yeast. The sweetness of the orange peel and malt is balanced by a fresh hop bite. What sets the '08 apart is less sweetness than 2007. Cocoa and cinnamon add bitterness, spice, and depth of flavor.

With a bold emphasis on hop bitterness, India pale ales are the ultimate beverage pairing for spicy dishes. The sharp hop presence in most India pale ales can stand up to even the most devilish of spices in Cajun, Malaysian, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine.
