The 2006 Cabernet Cuvée is a sumptuous favorite of mine. Even though I spent considerable time
tasting, blending, trials and then doing it all again, looking for the perfect balance of California and France
nuances. This vintage is decadent and full, layered and full bodied. The Napa portion came straight off the
valley floor. The Sonoma part was all Russian River fruit. The grapes were predominently Cabernet Sauvignon
with some Russian River Petite Sirah thrown in for added strength. All in all 2 major lots and 2 smaller
lots combined for the Napa/Sonoma split. Big Oak is also a profile for this wine style. More new oak than
usual with all French, medium toast barrels. The tannins are big, yet very well integrated. Overall, a very
“Cabernet-style” Cabernet. Quite delicious and layered. This Cab will make many new friends. Drinkable
now, but will ae very nicely for another 5-10 years easily.
