Brewed By:
Arcadia Ales
Self-Defined Style:
English-style Barleywine Brewed in the traditional English style of Barleywines, Cereal Killer is an explosion of full-bodied, malty goodness. Huge syrupy flavors flow over caramel, toffee, molasses and toasty notes. All these rich malt flavors are balanced out nicely by just the right amount of citrus-like hoppy bitterness. A high alcohol content makes this a beer for the cellar. As this brew ages, it will continue to develop more sherry-like flavors and aromas similar to a cask-aged port.
This is a BIG beer. True to our original vision, we have taken a traditional style and tweaked it a bit. Delicious on its own, Cereal Killer is also brilliant with many foods, or as a digestif.
Best With:
Limburger or Stilton Cheese, Wild Game, Baked Ham with Brown Sugar.
Special Attributes:
Big Beer (+8.0% ABV)
Special Attributes:
Vintage Beer (Evolves with Age) Awards:
Gold Medal - 2009 Great American Beer Festival - Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer
Silver Medal - 2007 Great American Beer Festival - Barleywine

(Battle Creek, Michigan) Cereal City's local brewery attended last week's 28th Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado and returned to Battle Creek with Michigan's only Gold medal in this year's competition with a victory for Arcadia's Cereal Killer Barleywine in one of the hottest contested categories, Wood/Barrel Aged Strong Ale.
" Our brew crew is among the most dedicated and hardest working teams in the industry, and I'm thrilled that this honor from the GABF judges serves as an acknowledgment of the effort and commitment they bring to Arcadia everyday." said Tim Suprise, Arcadia's Founder & President. "Our mission at Arcadia is to consistently produce worldclass ales that are bright, bold and balanced, and all of us at Arcadia are humbled by this recognition of one of our beers."
110 entries competed for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal in the Wood & Barrel Aged Category that Arcadia won for its barleywine.
