Pours a nice copper color with a thick cream colored head that does not dissipate quickly.
Definitely has a pine aroma as well as floral.
The flavor is full of hop bitterness with malt sweetness following. Medium to heavy mouthfeel.
Hop bitterness that lingers around afterward. Overall I think its a very good IPA.
Ballast Point Big Eye IPA Tasting Notes
Bottle. Pours a clear, honey-gold with a strong, off-white head. Aroma holds some pine and citrus fruit. Some grass and blooming spring flowers. There is a quality in the nose such that I predict definite sweetness in the flavor. (It turns out I was right.) Flavor is certainly sweet, the variety of malts giving the beer a strong foundation upon which the hops do their work. Some more pine. This is a very smooth beer, somewhat warming, and of modest carbonation. Finish is bitter and decently long, with only hints of stickiness. Very nice.
