Chimay
Self-Defined Style:
Grande Réserve Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl (25.4 fl.oz.) bottles, it is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavor, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma, while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurized.
Best With:
Chimay Grande Réserve works wonders with creamy cheeses, chocolate desserts, or as a digestif.

Chimay Grand Réserve
Aroma: Chimay Grand Réserve offers pleasant dark fruit aromatics, ranging from raisin to black currant.
Appearance: Deep, chocolaty brown, with reddish hues around the edges of the glass. Hazy with a rich, fluffy off-white head. Outstanding head retention. Prominent Belgian lace is left on the glass.
Flavor: Rich, fruity undertones suggest prunes and raisins, with delicate spices throughout. Sweetness up front gives way to a relatively dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with prickly carbonation and ample viscosity. Alcohol is detectable with a warming sensation, but is not overpowering.
Overall Impression: Overall, this is an extraordinary example of an abbey-style quadruple from an authentic Trappist brewery.
Comments: Sampled at the Blind Tiger in a Chimay chalice poured from a 750 ML corked bottle. This would make a great nightcap!
