Double Imperial IPA Too extreme to be called beer? 120 Minute IPA is brewed to a colossal 45-degree plato, boiled for a full two hours while being continuously hopped with high-alpha American hops, then dry-hopped daily in the fermenter for a month and aged for another month on whole-leaf hops!
Clocking in at 15-20% ABV and 120 IBUs, 120 Minute is by far the biggest IPA ever brewed! It's easy to see why we call this beer THE HOLY GRAIL for hopheads!
We brew 120 Minute IPA a few times a year, but it goes fast. If you find some grab a few bottles -- some to enjoy and some to age.

A general rule of thumb with this beer is 'the spicier the better.' The impressive hop bitterness in this beer can stand up to just about any degree of spiciness in dry rubbed ribs, curry based Indian food, or wasabi spiced Japanese fare.

Before I had this beer I was imaging a super hoppy and bitter beer, like a more intense version of the 90 Min but its not like that at all. It's low-carbonated, almost syrupy like a port wine, and it's sweet and smooth. There's just a barely noticeable hint of liquor after taste which is impressive since the beast of a beer is 18% ABV!
I just had one and WOW is it
I just had one and WOW is it powerful.
I don't know if I somehow scored an older bottle, but I found the hop flavor to be subdued and the hop aroma was about the same.
That said, I think this beer is fantastic. I would classify it more as a barely wine (at least with the bottle I had...)
The malt flavor was complex and rich and fruity and the alcohol taste blended well with everything. The hops pushed back on the malty sweetness of the beer and rounded out the flavor quite well.
Over all, this was a great beer, but the bottle I had just wasn't very bitter. I also wonder if I'm just getting used to the extremely bitter beers as well...
Have had a few of these over the years, just picked up six more. A beautiful ipa with a great reddish color. Strong but not over-powering. Sweet ipa taste at beginning, followed with a slight alcohol finish. One of these beers are great for a celebration or special event. Must have for real ipa phreaks.
huge citrus aroma ... hops all the way through nice bitter finish... for 18% drinks incredibly smooth. good to let it open up gets better when it reaches room temp
10/10
So sweet you cant drive home.
WOW...DOGFISH 120
Aroma: Wow...You have not tried a beer until you have tried this. This is a bottle of NyQuil ON STEROIDS in a nutshell. If you can get your hands on one, try it and you won't regret it!! Now if your the regular drinker who drinks Miller, Coors, or Bud...YOU CAN'T HANG WITH THE MONSTER 120...lol. If you dislike this beverage of choice at least go back to the number one beer in the woooorld!!!! BUD LIGHT!!! YEAH BUDDY. Unless you've drank The Samuel Adams Utopia's you better hold on to this beer with both of your hands while drinking.
Appearance: Hazy orange color
Flavor: Alcohol is very prevalent but underneath you can clearly smell hops and some sort of light sweet fruits
Mouthfeel: Sweet and Hoppy with a light carmel taste
Overall Impression: Syrupy really coats the mouth. I have tried it twice and for 10.99 a bottle RESPECT IT!!!!
