A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Best With:
This barrel aged stout is phenomenal with hearty, creamy desserts such as chocolate mud cake or chocolate cheesecake. Enjoy poured over fresh vanilla ice cream.

4.6 Overall

Appearance: Pitch black body with almost no head, only a dark tan ring.

Aroma: Heavy oak and bourbon, slight vanilla. Reminds me a bit of fresh tobacco.

Flavor: Very mellow and well balanced. Dark chocolate, oak, bourbon, and vanilla, in no particular order. Very intense but mellow, bittersweet.

Mouthfeel: Thick and syrupy, light carbonation.

Overall Impression: Expensive but this lives up to the hype, one of the best BA stouts I’ve ever had. I firmly believe though that no one has tasted this unless they’ve paired it with maple bacon cheddar, I had Yancey’s Fancey cheese.

Comments: Taken from my Ratebeer review.

Awesomely thick and black. Tastes like caramel and bacon and smoke. Maple syrup too. My favorite from founders.
