English Ale/ Bitter The Stone of Destiny, or Lia Fail, was the coronation stone of the Kings of the Scots from 840 AD. Originally located at Scone by Perth, it was taken to England in 1296 by Edward I, against the wishes of the Scots. It was returned to Scotland in 1996 and can now be found in Edinburgh Castle.
Lia Fail, the beer, comes from Inveralmond, Perth’s only brewery. This rich, dark amber brew is generously hopped, and took a gold medal in the Premium Bitter category at the 2003 Scottish Society of Independent Brewers annual awards -- Scotland's most prestigious brewing competition.
