Brewed By:
James Boags
Self-Defined Style:
Lager James Boag's Premium Lager is a European style lager brewed from the finest quality pilsener malts. This beer is fermented at a lower temperature than most Australian lagers and employs an extended maturation period. These combine with a mixture of kettle and late hopping to yield a crisp, pale lager that perfectly compliments fine food. This crisp, refreshing lager beer is ideal served very cold in a pilsner glass. A Tasmanian favorite!

Comments:
James Boags is somewhat of an institution in Australia, mainly due to its title as one of two of the oldest breweries in the country (the other is its fellow Tasmanian counterpart and competitor Cascade Brewery).
It features a flashy ad campaign for its Boags Draught, but the hype around this brew coming from the freshest of Tasmania's mountain spring water is for a reason - it creates a classic, clean lager that is a perfect remedy to a burning Australian summer. It is a very subtle brew, so fans of heavy hops-laden IPAs or dark ales might find this a little on the light side - but if you're baking in the heat, any beer that has this kind of cooling quality is worth the effort of finding it.
