Kostritzer Schwarzbier Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bottle pour, a dark brown color with a medium beige head.
Aroma: Heavy malt aroma, both sweet and burnt. Some hints of caramel and maple syrup.
Flavor: Very malty with sweet notes of caramel, some smoky character, mild bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Relatively light in body - a bit surprising given its appearance. Well carbonated and crisp. Lasting impression of lightly roasted malts.
Overall Impression: Overall pretty solid. A great session beer due in part to the low ABV. Certainly a cold-weather beer for me.
Comments: I would drink this again. The Schwarzbier is a nice combination of lager crispness with some characteristics of a robust porter.
