Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Harvest

Brewed By:
Sierra Nevada
Self-Defined Style:
Wet Hop Ale The cornerstone of our Harvest series is the beer that started the modern-day fresh hop ale phenomenon in America, our original Harvest Ale.
Created in 1996, Harvest Ale features Cascade and Centennial hops from the Yakima Valley in Eastern Washington. These hops are harvested and shipped as “wet” un-dried hops—the same day they are picked—to our brewery in Chico where our brewers eagerly wait to get them into the brew kettle while their oils and resins are still at their peak.
Best With:
Sierra Nevada Harvest goes great with any wood-grilled steak, especially a ribeye with house-made steak sauce. User login

Word, nomad. The bitterness of hops is there in the forefront but the herbaciousness is of a wet- hop is lacking. The carmel finish does remind one of a porter. It is not cloying like a porter can be but is still round as if were barrel-aged. Good beer just not what I expected.
disappointing
for a true hophead, this beer is a bit disappointing. It has plenty of hop, but it tastes more like a hoppy porter than a wet hop IPA.
Hop Heaven !
Appearance: Crisp, golden.
Aroma: Hoppy !
Flavor: Hoppy !
Mouthfeel: Hop "explosion" !
Overall Impression: Keep buying and drinking until it's gone for the season!
Comments: To anyone who enjoys cooking and eating; the hops here are typical of using fresh herbs vs. dried herbs. The hop flavors really stand out and command notice!
