Brewed By:
Sierra Nevada
Self-Defined Style:
Extra IPA Sierra Nevada Torpedo Ale is a big American IPA; bold, assertive and full of flavor and aromas highlighting the complex citrus, pine and herbal character of whole-cone American hops.
Best With:
With a bold emphasis on hop bitterness, India pale ales are the ultimate beverage pairing for spicy dishes. The sharp hop presence in most India pale ales can stand up to even the most devilish of spices in Cajun, Malaysian, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine. User login

Bold and full of flavor
Very bold with great flavors of citrus and hop. would go best with some spicy food.
Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA
Two finger sticky white head with substantially sticky lacing atop a ruby amber hue. Aromas of citrus fruit and pineapple, very clean. Slightly bitter, green herbs and citrus flavors. Smooth mouthfeel with some slight effervescence on the back of the nose. Bitter herbal, citrusy IPA that lingers on and on. This beer is like the SN Pale Ale on steroids.
Awesome
Okay....This beer is a Big American IPA. It is very bold with an IBU of 70 and an ABV of 7.2%. The first time I tasted this I wasn't used to this style of beer. You have to work your way up to these beers. I'm going to be honest with you. It tasted like a "PISSED OFF CHRISTMAS TREE!!" No for real...the second time I tried it I was at a Beer Ed. It's a place called Grapejuice in Ingram, Texas where we sample some beers and talk about each one. Once we sampled the Sierra Nevada Torpedo I looked at everyone's face. They gave it a funny look. Now, If they would have tried maybe the Harpoon IPA first it wouldn't have been so bad. So the person puting on this Beer Ed. tried to explain how it tasted and basically told them the description of it adding the piney taste. When I told them it tasted like a pissed off Christmas Tree they all started to laugh.
Sometimes its hard to get the point across when describing a beer, so just say what comes to mind!!!! :)
