Smuttynose Winter Ale Tasting Notes
Appearance: From the bottle, pours an amber-brown with a thin, fizzy beige head.
Aroma: Sweet, malty aroma with notes of dark fruits.
Flavor: A malty sweetness leads the flavor with flourishes of honey, maple syrup, caramel and dark fruits like cherries and plum. Some light, hoppy bitterness comes at the end.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with tingly carbonation. Warm, alcoholic aftertaste lingers in the throat.
Overall Impression: A rather nice beer, especially for the winter season. The dark character and rich, mildly complex flavor and warming sensation make this a fine cold-weather beer.
Comments: Another solid offering from Smuttynose. I think these guys make some great brews.
