The Troegenator Double Bock, is a dark, strong lager (8.2% abv). It pours into a glass with a bronze to brown color, fluffy white head and bready malt aroma. The Troegenator leaves a rich, warming feeling and subtle spicy flavors. The style, Double Bock, dates back a century or so ago. During periods of fasting without solid foods, the Monastic brewers relied on the double bock; a stronger, richer beer to fulfill their basic nutritional needs. Known to them as "liquid bread," a double bock has a strong malt aroma and chewy rich body. Traditionally these brewers ended the name of their double bock with the suffix "ator", ex. Celebrator, Illuminator, Subliminator... In the spirit of the tradition we give you the Troegenator to provide warmth and richness through the early spring months. A double bock of epic proportions, beware, the Troegenator is deceiving smooth and delicious.

I'll skip the technical

I'll skip the technical tasting stuff, since I found this beer on a chance at Murphy's Law in Rochester, NY. I usually stay away from the East End, especially when a new bar is open, but a friend was in town so I ventured to the corner of East and Alexander for a few.

I don't know if they plan on carrying Troegenator after this case is gone but what else was I to choose when presented with Bud Light Lime and Mich Ultra? Glad I did take the Troeg's. It was delicious and easy to drink, not something that you can say about all 8.2% beers. Really well balanced, especially for a doppelbock. Troeg's hits another beer homerun...

The best thing that I like

The best thing that I like about the Troegenator Double Block is the feeling that I get when I see the bronze color of the beverage turn into a brown one when poured into a glass. I don’t know! It simply fancies me! The rich and warm sensation that one gets is also noticeable which makes this one of the most must have drinks for anyone who is a lover of Troegs, in my arguable opinion!
