Self-Defined Style:
Altbier
Specifications
Strength (ABV):
6.0% ABV

The UERIGE STICKE or "secret" is a stronger, hoppier version of the brewery's regular Altbier at 6.0% alc/vol. Its fermentation and maturation time is double that of the "regular" Uerige. Up until the spring of 2004, it has only been served at the brewpub in Düsseldorf, and only on two days every year: the third Tuesday of January and the third Tuesday of November. After eight years of wrangling with the brewpub, we have finally been blessed with the opportunity to bring it out of Germany and into the hands of the beer enthusiasts of the United States!

Best With:
This altbier pairs well with traditional German foods, earthy cheeses, smoked and grilled meats.

Uerige Sticke Tasting Notes

somper's picture

Draft. Pours amber with a soft, white head. Nose holds some earthy hops, along with hints of lightly toasted malts. Flavor is mildly sweet, with some caramel malts, along with some hints of fruit and earthiness. Medium in body and well carbonated. Finish is outrageously dry. An interesting - and pretty good - beer.
