As if Troegs didn't have enough going on these days - with a massive new brewery about to open and all - they found the time to whip up something super special for us to enjoy in the meantime. Perpetual IPA is an Imperial Pale Ale hopped with Bravo, Chinook and Mount Hood and dry-hopped with Citra, Cascade and Nugget. Big and bold with pungent hop aromas and flavors of citrus, grapefruit, grass and pine resin. A sweetness from the malt is evident but plays second fiddle - the emphasis is definitely on the hops here. 7.5%abv, 85 IBUs and 100% Hunterdon approved! Perpetual IPA was just released to the NJ market on Monday in 22oz bottles, so be on the lookout for it this week!
Also, available in 22oz bottles: Flying Mouflan and Java Head Stout. In case you didn't already know, Mouflan was a Gold medal winner at last year's Great American Beer Festival in the Barleywine category. If you're one of those who are jonesing for Nugget Nectar on a year-round basis, grab some Mouflan to hold you over...the Troegs guys describe this one as "pushing Nugget Nectar off the side of a cliff...." So, if it's been awhile since you had the Mouf, it might be time to give it another whirl.
Troegs fans that have been around long enough to remember their Oatmeal Stout can take comfort in the Java Head Stout - an eye-opening, intense coffee stout brewed with the addition of oats for a rich mouthfeel. Brewed with locally roasted coffee and espresso beans, Java Head is a knock-out anytime of the day and especially at breakfast or dessert with a gooey cheese or a big slab of something chocolatey.
Be sure to stay in the loop with the latest on the new Troegs Brewery via their Facebook or Twitter pages. Slated to open in the fall with a fantastic indoor tasting area, new and improved state-of-the-art brewhouse and an awesome outdoor beer garden this is surely going to be THE beer mecca for craft beer geeks in the upcoming year!
In our constant evolution as a brewery, we’ve developed an undying drive to meld the organic and mechanical. Perpetual IPA utilizes our hopback and dry-hopping to engineer a bold Imperial Pale Ale.
“Straw in color and bittered with an abundance of citrus and spicy hops. Perpetual IPA is a tribute to building our new brewery and our desire to continue exploring,“ says John Trogner, Brewmaster and Founder.
Dubbed the Flying Mouflan (for reasons that become clearer toward the bottom of the glass) this strong alluring ale is two beers in one. Cracking open a fresh bottle unleashes hops and heat with more than 100 IBUs emanating from three hop varieties and sweet burn of 9.3% ABV. Cellaring the Flying Mouflan in a cool dark place at 50 degrees for a minimum of four months will mellow out the hops and wash away the heat. If you can resist temptation you will be rewarded with two memorable beers in a single bottle.
We teamed up with St. Thomas Roasters of Linglestown, PA to create a special blend of espresso beans. They added Kenyan beans to the mix because of a strong citrus flavor that compliments the hops. Creating an environment akin a French press, the beans are combined with whole flower hops in the hopback, and the hot wort passes through the vessel on the way to fermentation giving JavaHead a lush coffee espresso nose and hints of coffee flavor. There is a silky quality to the mouthfeel and a citrus aromas from the combination of Kenyan beans and whole flower hops.

Who We Are
Chris and John Trogner have been working hard to get Central Pennsylvania on the brewing map. Since 1997, these Mechanicsburg natives have been handcrafting world-class beers that combine traditional English brewing techniques with the eclecticism of new American brewing. But how they reached this point is as compelling as where they are headed.
Chris and John, 18 months apart in age, were simultaneously intrigued by the art of handcrafting beer while living some 1,750 miles apart—Chris in Boulder, Colorado and John in Philadelphia.
