Legends Ltd. Expands to New Facility to Accommodate Growth

Business is thriving for Legends Ltd., a Baltimore based craft and specialty beer wholesaler that has just completed relocating to its new facility on Yellow Brick Road. The new location offers far greater operational efficiency, better service for its suppliers and customers, and sufficient space for continued growth. A 19,000 square foot warehouse significantly increases the space Legends Ltd. now has to store its inventory of craft and specialty import beers, high end wines, and spirits.

Early in 2009, Legends Ltd. was acquired by Kingston, Massachusetts based L. Knife & Son Companies, one of America’s oldest and most respected beverage wholesalers. The strategic partnership provided Legends with an influx of capital to add new team members, major software and hardware upgrades, additional trucks, a new marketing platform, and a network of sales, marketing, administrative, operations, and IT managers to help fuel Legends’ continued growth. Patrick and Sherri Casey, the founders of Legends Ltd. remained on board to guide the transition until their retirement in mid-2010. Legends Ltd. veterens Dan Bosserman and Erin Tyler have since earned promotions to senior leadership positions as general manager and sales manager, respectively.

Legends Ltd. is the local distribution partner throughout Maryland and Washington, D.C. for more than 150 of the world’s most celebrated breweries including specialty imports Fraoch Heather Ale, Erdinger, Wurzburger, Schneider Weisse, Unibroue, and Saison Dupont, as well as craft brewers Great Divide, Lagunitas, Oskar Blues, Southern Tier, and Tuppers' among several other world class producers. According to the Brewers Association, craft beer has been the fastest growing segment of the adult beverage industry since 2003. Through hard work, innovation, education, and its partnership with L. Knife, Legends has been able to more than double national growth trends, necessitating the move to a larger facility.

Brian McGuire, vice president of operations for the L. Knife & Son Companies states that "we are excited by this move because we should be able to meet our projected growth for the next five years. We have more than doubled our available space." While warehouse space is an essential aspect of beverage distribution, the efficiency, quality, and climate control of a facility are also important factors. "The new facility will also allow us to improve our quality standards" adds McGuire, referring to several state-of-the-art enhancements offered by the new space on Yellow Brick Road.

The new home of Legends Ltd. will enable it to more efficiently service its growing customer base, and to continue introducing world class breweries to the local market.
