American-Style Amber/Red Ale

5am Saint is The Holy Grail of red ales. We live in a world of disposable deities. Someone, somehow has managed to press that big, flashing moronic override button and we’re hard wired straight into the pockets of false idols trying to make a quick buck. Sadly, for a lot of people the same mentality applies to beer. But who’s to know what’s worth worshiping when monolithic advertising budgets have you sucked down the rabbit hole in the blink of an eye? At BrewDog we are on a mission to open as many people’s eyes as possible.

We use traditional Oktoberfest specialty malts and hops to handcraft our interpretation of the style. Deep copper color with a predominant Euro-malty flavor and balanced bitterness.

Our lightest in terms of alcohol comes in at 4.8% by volume so that malt can dominate the flavor profile. Caramel sweet malt all over the palate with a noticeable “jumping just over the barrier” citrus hop aroma. Surprisingly refreshing for such a malt driven ale. Truly and all season American Amber.

Our Steep Trail Amber Ale is a medium copper-colored brew with a rich full malt character. At various stages in the brewing process, we introduce several varieties of British Noble hops to complement the natural sweetness of the finest English Pale and Crystal malts to produce a deliciously creamy brew with hints of toffee, plums and hazelnuts.

In the style of traditional British Special Bitters, our Amber Ale is a beer of great finesse and balance; it pairs well with roasted meats, full flavored fish, chili and any sturdy cheese. Try it the next time you barbecue!
