A limited release “Belgian Pale Ale,” Cyclone Sabrina is the delightful offspring of two brewing worlds – Belgian and American. She was brewed in October on the second birthday of her namesake, Sabrina Ryan, daughter of one of Newport Storm’s founders. Cyclone Sabrina (the beer) is quite simple up front (only pale malt was used) and relatively straight-forward without complicated hopping schedules. We chose to let the authentic Belgian yeast’s attributes shine—with all its yummy carried phenols, bubble gum esters, and clove smells.

Farmhouse Ales were originally brewed as “Provision Beers” by farmers in Belgium and France, brewed in the winter months to be consumed during hot summer work days. They were traditionally brewed light and refreshing to aid in both hydration and energy. Wheat and Pilsner malts were used to lighten up the body of this Mad Hatter version. It was also fermented hot with a strain of Belgian Saison yeast to develop flavors of green apple, pepper and fresh cut hay. Brewed for Hatter Days!

Cuvee is an ale of mixed origin like many Belgian breweries used to make. The production process is nearly the same as for the Kriek, the difference being that no cherries are added. It’s a naturally acidified ale in which we try to reach the perfect balance between sweet and sour. This amber-coloured ale contains 7% vol. Alc. and can age really nice.

The traditional Belgian yeast used for fermentation produces fruity, slightly spicy aromatics. A blend of Pale, Caramel, and Munich malts creates a golden amber hue with malty, sweet notes up front. A generous addition of Amarillo hops delivers a floral, citrusy hop character throughout and Apollo hops lend a hint of bitterness to the finish.

Harpoon Belgian Pale Ale has the spicy yeast characteristics of traditional Belgian beers along with an exceptional hop aroma and flavor.

This straw colored beer greets with an aroma of noble hops, pears and Belgian esters. The flavor follows nicely with a moderately spicy hop and Belgian yeast effect buoyed by a soft malt body. The finish is crisp and dry. We enjoy this beer with spicy foods, grilled steaks, grilled chicken and mandarin salad. Where you take it is only limited by your imagination. For those interested in styles, the name of this beer comes from the color over trying to meet any particular style.
