Why does the world need another IPA? Because this one ain't like them others. Using hops of a different color, earthy and herbal, it's well balanced by bready malt. The result? An English-style IPA that separates itself from the ubiquitous bunch. Cartloads of bitter monkeys flinging wasteful amounts of bananas into the jungle - we're so done with that.

Initial malt sweetness followed by earthy, straw and herbal hop notes. Finishes dry with a pleasant lingering bitterness and distinctly British hop character.

Our IPA is the essence of “beer in balance”. Dry-hopped with Columbus hops in our open fermenters, our IPA boasts a bright floral aroma and flavor reminiscent of pine and lemon peel. The pronounced hop bitterness is balanced by a medium-bodied caramel and biscuity malt character with a nutty finish.

Olde England meets the New World in this strong, warming golden ale. A generous amount of famous English malt is masterfully balanced with an astounding 45 ounces of fresh hops - including English Cascade - per barrel. Bad Elf is brewed by Peter Scholey, master brewer for the late and much-lamented Brakspear Brewery of Henley-on-Thames, England. Peter has bought up the entire crop from the single row of Cascades grown in the U.K.

India Pale Ale, so-called because of the market it was created for, was first brewed in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1822. Demand for an English ale amongst British troops serving in India was high, so the ale sent out to the East was heavily hopped and brewed to a high gravity, so that it could ferment slowly throughout the long journey, reaching the peak of its condition as it arrived. Fuller's own premium quality India Pale Ale reflects all the traditional characteristics associated with this historic beer.

Burton Bridge Empire India Pale Ale

Awarded the Guardian Bottled Beer of the Year at the 1997 Great British Beer Festival, followed by runner up the following year. Brewed to replicate the India Pale Ales that were brewed in Burton to be sent to the Empire in India, now exported by us in the opposite direction to the USA.

Best With: 
This English IPA works great with pork with vinegar and garlic, chicken with roasted coconut sauce, onions and tomato masala, Cajun prawns and duck risotto.

Twisted Thistle is brewed at 6.1% for the US market and 5.3% for our European customers, a refreshing example of an India Pale Ale from the Master brewers of Belhaven. The blend of cascade and Challenger hops combine to produce an abundance of fresh hope aroma that preludes a bitter-dry taste explosion, perfectly balanced by optic ale malt grist which will have your taste buds tingling.
