Rye IPA
Strength (ABV):
6.9% ABV
Bitterness (IBU):
54 IBU

Brewed on: 4/28/11
Packaged on: 5/12/11

Brewing our Rye IPA has given us the opportunity to reflect on 25 years of Harpoon and yet another excuse to have a pint or two of beer together on the brewhouse floor. As all good partnerships require give and take, we went back and forth on the specifics of this unfiltered Rye IPA. In choosing this style, we pooled our individual ideas and preferences to create something that we would both enjoy and, we hope, something that you will enjoy as well.

Best With:
With a bold emphasis on hop bitterness, India pale ales are the ultimate beverage pairing for spicy dishes. The sharp hop presence in most India pale ales can stand up to even the most devilish of spices in Cajun, Malaysian, Japanese, Indian, and Mexican cuisine. The assertive rye character in this beer enables it to pair quite well with rye-friendly foods such as pastrami (particularly on rye bread).

Rye Ale

Samuel Adams Revolutionary Rye Ale is the winner of our 2010 Beer Lover’s Choice® campaign. This deep reddish-hued ale has a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors. The slight roastiness and sweetness from the malt blend is complemented by pine and citrus notes from the combination of German and American hops. The defining ingredient in this ale, malted Rye, imparts additional complexity by delivering a spicy and slightly drying finish to this medium-bodied brew.
