Liefmans Fruitesse

Product - Liefmans Fruitesse
Brewed By:
Liefmans
Self-Defined Style:
Belgian Lambic
Strength (ABV):
3.5% ABV

Liefmans Fruitesse is a unique, fresh beer blend - maturing for 18 months on cherries in the Liefmans cellars - which is artfully blended with natural juices of cherry, bilberry, elderberry strawberry, and raspberry. The result is a fruit pleasantly sweet, sparking and refreshing beer with a soft foam head.

Best With:
The delightful tart quality of these beers enables them to work well as an aperitif, however they pair beautifully with tart desserts such as sour cherry pie, or strawberry rhubarb crisp.

Cantillon Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru

Brewed By:
Cantillon
Self-Defined Style:
Unblended Lambic
Strength (ABV):
5.0% ABV

It may not be your father’s beer, but it was probably his great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather’s. This is the very stuff you see flowing from ceramic crocks in many classic Flemish paintings such as the Brueghel that adorns the label of this beer.

Best With:
Strong-flavored cheeses
Awards:
Selected as one of the fifty best beers in the world by Men's Journal magazine, July 2005.

Self-Defined Style:
Belgian Style Sour Ale
Strength (ABV):
9.2% ABV

Gargamel, a Belgian Style sour ale, is the first offering in our limited release 375 ml series. Our brewers used a blend of American 2-row barley Malt, Raw and Malted wheat and selected caramel malt to brew this 9.20 % ABV beer. After primary fermentation the beer was inoculated with our house Brettanomyces aged in French Oak wine barrels with a generous amount of local raspberries for over 18 months. Gargamel's aroma is full of un-ripened raspberry, vanilla and citrus notes. This medium bodied beer has hints of biscuit and graham cracker with a clean, fruity and refreshingly tart finish.

Cantillon Iris

Product - Cantillon Iris
Brewed By:
Cantillon
Self-Defined Style:
Lambic
Strength (ABV):
5.0% ABV

Iris is made in the style of lambic - fermented by wild yeasts and aged in oak wine casks at the brewery - but with a couple of big differences. First, it is made entirely from malted barley, whereas traditional lambic uses one third unmalted wheat. In addition, the brewery has used fresh Hallertau hops in the boil and for dry-hopping the Iris. (Traditional lambic calls for hops that have been aged for several years, which impart virtually no hop flavor to the finished product.)

Best With:
This uniquely complex ale is not only slice through the flavor of mussels, but is also quite interesting as a broth base for mussels. The substantial body and tart flavor of this brew will easily lend itself to raw oysters.
