Marzen
Strength (ABV):

German Märzen beer - hearty, amber-colored, malty, and finely balanced lager that is refreshing and filling all at once - was the original staple of Oktoberfest celebrations. The Monk's Fest comes to us from the beautiful monastery at Weissenohe, in the green wooded hills of Franconia, northern Bavaria. This rare, traditional, and very tasty 'liquid bread', is as close as you can get to the real thing.

Lowenbrau Oktoberfest

Brewed By:
Löwenbräu
Self-Defined Style:
Oktoberfest Marzen
Strength (ABV):
6.0% ABV

In general the style is characterized by a medium body and broad range of color. Oktoberfests can range from golden to reddish brown. Sweet maltiness should dominate over a clean, hop bitterness. The bitterness should not be aggressive or harsh. Malt character should be light-toasted rather than strongly caramel (though a low level of light caramel character is acceptable). Bread or biscuit like malt character is acceptable in aroma and flavor. Hop aroma and flavor should be notable but at low to medium levels. Fruity esters should not be perceived.

Best With:
The straightforward carmelized malt and hop balance in amber lagers enable them to pair with a wide variety of food items, particularly grilled or braised poultry, sausages, and pizza.

Great Divide Hoss

Brewed By:
Great Divide
Self-Defined Style:
Rye Lager
Strength (ABV):
6.2% ABV

Hoss is based on the Marzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with hints of cherry and dark fruits, dominate, while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp crisp and dry, and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer.

Mahr's Jubelfest

Product - Mahr's Jubelfest
Brewed By:
Mahr's
Self-Defined Style:
Specialty Lager, Holiday Brew
Strength (ABV):
4.9% ABV

This Jubelfest is like no other Oktoberfest beer you will find - very deep and dark, with an unusually roasty, earthy, and complex character. The traditional German festbier was a strong amber lager (a style of beer thought to have originated in Vienna, Austria), but these days in Munich the festbier is just a stronger version of the standard pale lager. Mahr's Jubelfest does not fit either the traditional or the modern mold, but it perfectly represents the true spirit of the season - a warm, rich celebration of the harvest, the beer equivalent of a big, overstuffed chair to settle down in.
