According to Phil, A generous amount of Munich and Vienna malts give this beer its copper color and toasty-caramel aroma. German noble hops provide complimentary bitterness and a clean, dry finish. The beer has been cold-conditioned for six weeks and goes down smooth. ABV 5.1% IBU 43.

A smooth, Kolsh style ale brewed to soothe the longshanks while he awaits the Scottish warriors' return to freedom. Brewed with four different malts and three types of hops.

Best With: 
Most hybrid beers originated as a result of brewers fermenting with a yeast strain that is most effectively employed at a very different temperature. California Common Beer was created with a lager strain that was fermented in sunny, warm California, while German Altbiers and Kölsch was first brewed with ale strains in chilly Northern Europe.

Light and fragrant, Samuel Adams® East West Kölsch has a floral and herbal character that balances the refreshing German Kölsch style. A classic Kölsch is less bitter than a pilsner with a slightly fruity and sweet biscuit note. For our version we wanted to create a bright fresh flavor by using Alsatian Strisselspalt hops for a subtle lemon and grassy hop note. We added another layer of flavor by aging the beer on a bed of Jasmine Sambac, a fragrant night blooming flower from Southeast Asia. The jasmine creates a delicate floral aroma and flavor for a wonderfully complex and refreshing brew.

Best With: 
A delicate trout cooked with lemon and herbs is a perfect match for the bright and fragrant Kölsch.

Kentucky Light is a classic Kolsch style top fermented ale, a style of beer emanating from Cologne, Germany. For years Alltech Master Brewers have used their very own specialized yeast which in turn is the single greatest flavor contributor to this remarkably flavorful and award winning microbrew. Veteran Master Brewer Dr. Joe Power’s recipe calls for imported pale malts and malted white wheat to create an exceptionally smooth finish. Light in color, but full in flavor, Kentucky Light is sure to please the avid craft beer enthusiast and the light beer drinker alike.

Best With: 
Traditionally, potato pancakes and sauerbraten would be a wise choice. We also suggest lighter foods like chicken, salads and salmon. Monterey Jack cheese pairs up well with this beer!
